Tsofli

Anyone knows what tsofli means?

Hi guys i am new here and full of questions. Should i fire away or take it easy?
Let me give you an idea. I have almost no budget. I always loved the IDEA of sailing and always was, in love with the sailing boats. Never sailed. But i want to learn. Dont know where to start. I want to buy a boat EXTREMELY cheap, that is a reck but safe to ride, not fix it, - because i see people spent years fixing before they sail and i can't wait- learn on it for a few months cross the Atlantic and survive it.

Now tell me, it it too much to ask?

P.S. From what i seen so far absolutely favorite boats are :

1) Nor'sea 27
2) Westsail 28
3) Bristol CC 28.

Do i rock or what?

yassou!

tsoflias..... isn't that the bits that are attached to a goats penis

Tsofli 28-11-2013 18:05

Re: Tsofli

I am not sure what is attached there..... tsoflias??????? Whats that? Anyways i was just wondering if you guys know. It would make an embarrassing name for a boat. That's why is crucial that people don't understand the meaning of it.

So from everything i said the only thing that got ur attention is Tsofli?

Tsofli? ...maybe a mnemonic for finding your way home after dark? I don't have experience with any of your boat inquiries. They seem to be good choices for the single sailor offshore. I've always been off with family or crew. Welcome to the community!

Well you do it your way, and I truly hope it works for you.

I have sailed, but it has been so long ago that I can't recall much other than
I enjoyed it tremendously. I will go do some more sailing on someone else's boat
before buying my own though.
Old age has made me much more cautious, maybe overly so at times...

Of the three you listed I would look at all of them, but with a special eye toward the Westsail 28. Make sure the engine runs, and there are no really big holes leaking water.

You really don't need sails, but they do look snazzy !

Just get to the ICW, and it's all good ...:D

oh and if you get five, or more CF members to agree on any one of them.
Drinks are on atoll...:D

Re: Tsofli

Perfect. Why dont i need sails? i would think i dont need engine. Actually my first boat that it would have to be dirt cheap i wouldnt mind terribly if it was a small vessel with no engine.

Thanks Captforce and Andrew. I already thanked Atoll. By the way. Do i need a license?

Yeah, I've seen that. It reminds me of my cruising back in the early seventies. 'not that much new under the sun, but there sure remains a lot of potential for joy and adventure! Everyone should relish their time of discovery!

How do u know i am greek? the word i doubt is Greek.
So CaptForce u say i go for it? A boat to teach me. Not open water, but near the coast. Glad to hear its not a complete crazy idea

Re: Tsofli

Well, I guess I'd agree to "go for it". When it comes to the choices of near the coast or offshore, I think the best option would be to have a beginning homeport at a location where you have protected sailing inshore for anytime sailing,..... bays, lagoons, estuaries, with easy access to a good inlet for offshore. We don't know about your employment or location, but before we retired we always had the option for a few hours sailing after work without breaking an inlet and also without strong tidal currents that would hinder casual sailing.

Re: Tsofli

Location is near HHI SC. It seems possible if you wait for the tides. I kayak with the tides or mostly lay on my kayak while the tide does the work for me. To lazy to paddle all the time

Never said, or implied you were Greek, or anything else, really.

"It's Greek to me" is another way of saying I don't know, and ain't going to
waste more time attempting to figure it out. Whatever "it" might be.

"Sounds like a moped." This was the first thing that popped up when I did
a search for Tsofli;tsofli - YouTube

Kind of reads like what used to be known as pig latin. Ellohay iendfray=Hello friend. Tsofli= Oflitsay
PigLatin.org - Pig Latin Translations Made Easy

Each generation has its own "I am going to be 'different' than the last generation", etc.
And some, but not me because my dad was a Marine, just liked doing anything
that might PO a adult to a level of aggravation, but hopefully not the
punishment level. Child abuse hadn't been invented yet, so ones butt
could be made to turn red. Pig Latin was one of many things the bad kids,
but not me(he says with his fingers crossed) did. :D

Smaller than you seem to be interested in, but hear is a Flicka FS on CF;
