Got Room for Another Newbie?

Hey, all - Am familiar with the site via husband who's been a member for quite some time and has taught me all I know about boating through our experiences together the last 10 years! What a great opportunity it is to have a venue such as this to be able to come and learn even more. Our plans are developing and hope to make some more dreams come true in the next couple of years by heading Caribbean/USVI/BVI direction! Whether we decide on a monohull or a cat, one of my first concerns is how to best provision with staples, spices, etc without OVER provisioning! I have a problem with wanting to cook for 10 when there are only two of us aboard@! I will be checking out the many forums I see here onsite but wanted to get my "toes in the water" and check in here first! I look forward to lots of reading and learning!!:flowers:

Well Babs, when you figure it out maybe you can get together with my wife and share ideas. I love her with all my heart, but your post described her to a "T". I just read it to her and got a good chuckle. Her response was "good luck sister".

Well, this "sista" might need some luck, but I can be pretty resourceful as needed. Maybe we'll find a boat with hidden compartments!!!! Gosh forbid@'n

Welcome aboard.

Keep cooking to much.
I am sure I am not the only hungry bachelor around that's willing to work for a good home(boat) cooked meal...:D

You know, it's starting to sound like I could have WORSE problems to have on board than cooking too much@!!

I don't really worry too much about over-provisioning. There is nothing like a rack of BBQ ribs and a cold G&T after months of fish for dinner when floating in the middle of nowhere.

Now that I'm in a place with market access, we just "eat down" any excess supplies from pantry/fridge and supplement with fresh veggies. Next step will be to re-provision, of course!! ;)

Some spices are a challenge - they tend to go bad (mold) relatively fast & my only solution has been to get the small quantities and replace when they go off.

Enjoy the process & good luck!

Welcome aboard! Serving only two of you but cooking for ten sounds like a great way to make friends of some neighbors in your anchorage.
