I will, if you think you might benefit from it, complete my "manual" and let you have it by PM. When you have read it and you understand why my technique works for me, in my circumstances, we can "massage" it, and examine how the totality of my procedure can be deconstructed, and its component parts be recombined in a manner that will suit your particular circumstances.

If you are interested, do PM me. :-)

    Continued...

I had started to reply to you with what turned out to be developing into a regular, detailed "manual" on how I do it. "Life" interfered, so at this point only the "How to Depart" chapter is complete :-) As I said in the open forum, we both have 30-footers, and my slip is tighter than yours. The current, which is actually tidal current and therefore alternates direction, is always on my beam, whereas I gather that the current you have to deal with is a river current, i.e. it always parallels your heading, and it always runs in the same direction.

    Will be continued...

    Hello usdiver61

Thank you for your reply to me in #32 in the "How to dock sideways" thread:-) I decided that I'd PM you because I noticed that you took exception to being addressed as "Dude". So do I, and when someone presumes to do so, he gets to know about the magnitude of his presumption :-) Most of what you were told by people who are inclined to address strangers in such a manner was, IMO, either unhelpful, useless or just plain rubbish. None of it was, however, couched in terms that would justify my putting on my moderator's cap :-)

What Dockhead told you, you can rely on, but Dockhead's boat is three of four times the displacement of yours and has every conceivable do-dad money can buy, so Dockhead's ship handling, while sound in terms of HIS boat, is not directly transferable to yours.

Will be continued in a second PM due to length restriction on PMs...

    Regards,

    TrentePieds
