    Biography
First took to sea as a share fisherman in my spare time while still at school, working weekends and holidays. After leaving school at 16 i joined the British Army only for my service to be cut short due to injury.
Since then i have taken on many jobs. i continued fishing for a couple of years before taking up gardening and eventually tree surgery. With my mind still stuck in military mode i started to freelance as a volunteer with the KNLA in Karen State, Burma.Since 2014 i have been also be helping to clear landmines in Karen State where i was a part of a (not so legal) demining project.
Late 2014 then led me to the front lines in Ukriane where my life was finally turned completely upside down for good. I was asked to go to Ukraine to help with demining efforts but due to the extremity of the fighting ended up as a sniper on the front lines. During this time my face was shown across Russian media portraying me as a mercenary working for the USA/UK government. This caused me all sorts of problems back home including extreme digging into my past by the media, hacking of my accounts and leaks of private information. In the end, i was left with no choice but to give interviews just to try and get the truth out, however it was too late to stop the effects.
A massive wedge was driven between myself and my partner, my friends and some of my family. Dealing with this while dealing with combat stress and PTSD has disrupted my life massively. Finally this year my partner and i broke up and with tennis elbow forcing me to shut down my tree buisness, i headed back to the front lines of Ukraine.
My aim had been to fundraise money to complete my EOD (explosive odinance destruction) qualiforcations next year in Kosovo. However, due to the loss of 3 very good friends last week to mines while we were clearing, i have just lost the stomach for it.
I have been thinking about sailing for years, but just never got round to it, always made excuses, save it for retirement bla bla. but i need this now, i need it for my soul. I have achieved many good things with my life. yet at the same time i have done some absolutly stupid things. Now i need to heal myself, i need time to myself to think, but at the same time i can not just sit and do nothing, i am the type of person that needs to be doing something, i always need a project.
so, on 2 days ago, i found a Sabre 27 for sale in the UK and bought here. I have no sailing experiance other than my time on the fishing boats. I will have to lean most things from scratch. Alot of people i know will most likely gasp at this. However, all i will say is this, i am a fast learner and i am a very detemined bugger. I have been clearing landmines for 2 years with absolutly no formal qualiforcations. just some helpfull advise and hands on training from some good guys with a wealth of knoledge. Yes, i have all my fingers and toes!
So, with the help of you lovely people maybe i can achieve this goal
    Kind regards
    Swampy
