Hi Simon,
I am planning on ordering a boat soon but just doing research. You talked about flat solar panels vs glass. Flat seems to be a great option in theory as easier to install, lighter, can walk on them etc. but the research says the panels need air flow to operate well, sticking on the deck might be a fire hazard?? Any thoughts on what you recommend would be appreciated. Also if you can keep us up to date with your path down an electric engine. I am planning 5kwh of solar but after reading this thread maybe i should do more? Thanks for your thoughts.
SV reality. I may have spoken with you before as I’m planning 50’ aluminium cat build. I’m entertaining the idea of a hybrid system but want to do a clear comparison. I love the idea of it, all elec boat ( except generator) with no propane. I’m talking with OV at present. They are rec AX20 x 2 shaft drives.
I’ll get precise quote off them soon and compare costs, weights and advantages.
Are you happy with OV?
Any advice?
