Thanks, where the @*%! is the Meet and Greet forum? I find myself struggling to navigate this site.

Just joined this site and looking to make new friends. Getting ready to close on a older sailboat and sail her up north from Florida the end of this month. Not too familiar with this site although I come across old postings on subjects I google. Figured I need to start somewhere so you're it.

What's up with the "let me Google that for you"? Tried it and it seems to be just a couple of additional mouse clicks. I'm thinking I've missed something or you wouldn't be using it.

    Cheers from Indonesia, Don

Hi Sarafina... just a note in response to your question about the use of chain or 'rope' for anchor rode. Remember that 'lines are for boats and ropes are for sex'. A female crew member informed me of this after a sailing date on another boat when I asked her what she had learned on her outing!

I learn from your point of view, and I love the wording you choose when you post. You are a writer!

    Biography
Native San Franciscan, and raised near the water, boats and mucking around with them has always a pleasure for me. From my grandfather's three vintage wood Chris-Crafts, to Sunfish, Lazers and Catalina 22s, I have never found a boat I couldn't like. But some I love more than others, and small swift sailboats will always be my favorites. Years spent living in Panama aided and abetted this passion and I yearn for warmer waters than the San Francisco Bay offers!

In addition to sailing I love to cook and am an avid reader. When finances and time have allowed I have also been an equestrian and loved cross country and distance riding.

I have a daughter who is turning 17 and right now I am making sure to enjoy my time with her, because I know it's short and when she is out on her own I will miss her terribly. On the other hand it will give me more time to work on the boat!

Currently we are restoring a classic plastic; a Cal 28 flush deck. As much as I loved the wood boats of my youth I would never own one; I am OVER bright work! Odds are good that if we get to cruising more than days or a week at a time we will graduate up to a larger boat, a multi hull of some sort high on the list of possibilities.
