    Biography
    I learned seamanship by working commercial fishing boats in Alaska. After pulling a couple of seasons as a lead man on salmon seiners, I met a serious high latitude sailor who'd just taken his steel schooner through the Northwest Passage. He took me on as crew and taught me to sail as we made the passage to Mexico.

    Sailing soon became a big part of my life, and I started working on boats and making ocean passages in between other gigs as a musician and teacher.

    I've been living and working in South America, Africa, Europe and the Middle East for the past 6 years. Returned Stateside this past spring, and bought a Pearson 323. I've been sailing her around the Bay, up the rivers, and out the Golden Gate to nearby destinations on the Pacific coast.

    The goal is to sail down to Mexico next year, potentially continuing to Central America or Ecuador. By the following spring (2021), I'll be ready to jump off across the Pacific. Then I'll continue cruising and working in various countries from there. With that in mind, there are constant projects going on to increase storage capacity, add self-steering, solar, and generally maintain a blue water-capable vessel.

    The learning curve is steep as anything, though, and I really appreciate the depth of knowledge on these boards.
