I have a few questions about Miami to Kemah if you have time.
We are in post-survey negotiations on a Catana 471. I retire in 12 months, and we plan to refurb the boat before taking off. Present thinking is to get her out of Florida ASAP, and get the work done close to home (Clear Lake Shores.)
How was the passage? Did you do it in one shot, or stages? Did you wait for a particular type of weather window? I have raced from Galveston to Biloxi, and the unlit pipes & rigs were a thing. On another race from St. Pete to Isla Mujeres, the Gulf Stream figured prominently in our strategy. I expect one stays off the Cont. Shelf until you turn rt. and head for Galveston Roads. Anyway, I would like to learn more about your trip, as we will be doing it soon. The Catana should be a bit faster than the 450 (nice boat- we chartered one in St. Martin a few years ago) although the present sails are more likely to equalize any speed advantage the Catana may have.
Thank you,
