Remove the oil fill cap and feel how much blow by comes out. You can imagine how much will fit in the breather hose which is about 1/2". Remember if you check at idle, that is one thing but at cruise power it's another. Our engine has to much blow by to check at cruise power and it does not smoke. By too much, I mean it makes a mess with oil spray when you remove the cap. Something amiss inside will be dramatic even at idle.
