Hi Mike,
I have been following your old posts with greatinterest as my wife and I are in the market for a sailboat to cruise Lake Ontario and you have considerable experience with both of the models at the top of our list.
We have looked at both the CS 36T and CS40 and wonder which would make for a better cruiser. I like everything about the CS 40 except the potential problems with the balsa cored hull-sides. Would the CS 36 have a better expected life-span?
Finally, there are two CS 40s available out of the same marina. One is a beautifully maintained shoal draft from 1989, the other a wing keel model put to some harder use, hull #2 for about $15K less.
In your opinion, is a 1989 shoal draft CS 40 worth $70 USD? If cared for, do you think the hull will hold up? Is it better to get the older CS 40 with the wing keel and use the money we save to fix her up? Or should we start out as you did with a CS 36?
Hi fellow CS owners...I have a 1986 CS 30...have had it for about two years and love it..Getting it ready to make my first down south trip next January...I am in the process of upgrading it,,ie; solar, radios, weather...if u have any ideas or comments let me know would appericate any help or advice....thanks
We have a cs 33' and would love to pick your brain on some specifics and any tips you have for cruising and living aboard one. How is the 40 treating you?
