17-04-2014 08:42dogbert4presI am doing what one never should so and buy their last boat first. I am 52 and planning to live/work aboard a boat and planning on an extensive stay in the Pacific. I use that sail calculator a lot to help compare boats I see for sale as well as find other models of boats that would suit my purposes. If you need help finding a place o put that data ( and web scripts to make it work), I may be able to help there.
Or... if you know how it could be run locally on my computer even better!
Thanks -
05-03-2014 06:59OrchidiusFudge... The issue with this type of equipment is that there are very little available in my area. It's the type of thing mostly seen on passage-making boats, and 99,9999% of boats here don't even leave the slip when it blows more then 4bft. My marina has 2500 boats in the water, and in the entire region I have seen 1 (on the concrete) with a windvane steering system =/

05-03-2014 04:42OrchidiusHi there,
I saw your post on my topic about finding self-steering gear abroad. Many thanks for that, I've fiddled with google a bit and I'm hoping to find what I'm looking for in the near future. I've just come to think of the logistical problem though... Most of those units are fairly large and I can imagine shipping is a pain. How much did you pay for shipping for yours from the UK? How was it packaged?
Thanks! -
05-12-2012 17:19dejgoldieHello jannw, I read on a recent thread that you own a Nouanni and you are from Sydney. I am from Sydney too, and am considering getting on a plane before xmas to buy a Nouanni in Italy (currently on yachtworld) or possibly an Ovni.
The crazy thing is, I've been aboard a few Ovnis, but never a Garcia. I didnt imagine that there would any point in trying to find an aussie to talk Garcias with, and then I saw your posts.
I'd love to talk, and if at all possible, I'd love to see your Nouanni.
Sincerely,
Davie Goldie
