Just like you I have big dreams of crossing oceans and I have to admit this is not the boat for it. But until then this is the perfect boat for me. I even use it as a camper when I go out of town and I do not want to spend any money on hotel rooms. I also use it to crappie fish. Just take the mast down, set it aside and go fishing at local ponds. The boat does not need much of a ramp as it will float in less than a foot of water. Hello, It was 9000 $ exactly 2 years ago. It was in excellent condition and came loaded with everything I needed to go sailing right away. I actually had to drive all the way to FL to get it because the boats there are so much cheaper there. The boat is simple, easy to rig and break down and easy to trailer around. It is slow with a hull speed of only 5.2knts but then that does not bother me since I do not race nor I am in any hurry to go anywhere. The boat is very forgiving. I actually taught myself how to sail on it after reading a couple of books. The boat has a hard chine and that combined with the 3 hundred some pounds keel makes the boat very stable. I was caught in a couple of wind against current situations to where the waves actually scared me. I was actually surprised by how smoothly the boat rode those waves.
