Hi - Saw your post on Sailnet.com (not here) about the ICOM M-710. Did a google search on your handle, and saw you were active (2014) on this site, and most recently on SSCA (but am not a member), so thought I'd try to contact you here. Just wanted to ask a qn. re ICOM M-710 for ham. I'm a total radio novice, so would appreciate any help!

Will buy a M-710, opened already to transmit on ham - but many say the M-710 is a "hassle" for transmitting on ham bands.

But you said in your post below that you think the M-710 is easier to use (than M700Pro) on ham freqs, once you "set up the M710 with a computer". I'm wondering what this means? I'd like to understand how to modify the radio to more easily receive and transmit on ham bands.

    Thanks for any advice!

    Cheers,

I saw your post on repairing VDO Yanmar digital hourmeter. I have been having the intermittent readout problem. I assume that to access the ribbon cable you refer to, you disassemble the tachometer. Is there any trick to that?
