19-02-2024 18:14waskipperHi, My name is Pete and live in Perth, I was just after some advice regarding a chamberlin stratus 38' specifically bridgedeck clearance. I am looking at one in Sydney shortly but live in Perth and it would be used to head North as far as Darwin (once I get her home) every Winter. The stretch of water between Geraldton and Exmouth is faily rough going when heading South even in weather windows (happy to wait it out as understand the ocean just not this vessel abilities) I was just wondering how they ride especially bridgedeck slap? Thanks regards Pete.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I agree any neglected hull is bad. I have just been offered a 40' tri Janzsia , built by John Glennie. Foam core poly 80's I think. Do you know her ? -
15-02-2022 12:41CMNZHi Phil
Appreciate your input on the forum. I have learned a lot just from this one post and even though there are some diametrically opposed ideas being preferred, the general consensus seems to be that I am not heading in a problematic direction and I have already modified my plan for construction to foam rather than ply.
I found your idea for the outboard pods really interesting too. It looks like your outboards are short shaft also which is interesting. A video would be fantastic.
Thanks
Craig

10-03-2021 14:59stickybeakHi Phil,
I've been reading your very knowledgeable posts on cats for a while now. I was wondering if I could ask your advice. I've recently sold my 37 foot sloop and want to get a cat. I want one for performance and my family prefer them for comfort. But I don't have much of a budget. About 70K is all I have to spend. I'm thinking of finishing the fitout on someone's 30-35 foot project as a way into cruising cats. I enjoy working on boats. I have seen a project up for sale near Lake Tuggerah ( I'm in Sydney). It's ugly, but my question is, "will it sail like a dog?" I imagine it might be available reasonably below its asking price. I'd be interested in your thoughts. I can't send you a link but it's on yachthub as "33ft Project Catamaran", a Norm Silva design. -
17-11-2020 02:21seaskipHey Phil,
I had a chat with you a month or 2 ago Re Crowther designs. That one didn’t work out and we are now looking at a Chamberlin12.4. I noticed you owned one of those designs and wondered if you’d mind giving me some knowledge on them.
Regards, Jeff Miller
PS I did try an email but no luck. Hoping you’re off somewhere sailing
