    Biography
They've wanted a big sailboat for years. Something to keep in Florida, close to Disney; close to the ocean. Then in 2018 the wife bids $100 on a charity auction for a 36' Allied Princess that's just down the road from us... and WINS! The previous owner obviously loved this boat but his failing health would not let him complete the refit. He had completely re-cored the deck, pulled the diesel and water tanks and bought all new sails and rope. It needed a little work finishing the deck and all new paint on the deck. It also needed the cabin sole repaired as the original had to be cut to get the tanks out. But in return they got brand new stainless tanks, an engine-transmission with a recent professional overhaul, and just ... everything ready to go back together.

They were going to name it Sea-Note. Get it? Like a C-note, a $100 bill.

They spent a year getting the finish ... finished and then rebuilt all of the dated portlights and then the clumsy oaf of this duo walked into a mast on the ground and punched a 1" bolt an inch into his shin. Then spring came and work progressed slowly. Some other pesky health problems invaded and next thing you know 2019 was winding down and the new tanks weren't even in yet. No sweat, "we'll take a break and get on it fresh in 2020" they said. 2020 brought the pandemic and a great deal of anxiety and apathy. It was just too hard to get anything done. Delivery times were enormous, and they couldn't just go to a marine supply. On top of that, some of the health issues plaguing the husband proved persistent. Just a whole lot of nothing was getting done on that boat

Then, in 2021, the smart, beautiful, successful businesswoman bought a handful of scratch-off lottery tickets. An old habit that her husband often derided her for; until that is, at around 2:00AM he was awakened with the news that "'we' had won a small jackpot". She said "we", but he would never dream of claiming any credit for this. He did eat a whole lot of crow though.

And ... after nearly 3 years of looking out the window and seeing that really lovely, really big, really still not ready to sail sailboat in the backyard, the anti-social trainwreck husband turned to his loving wife and said, "Can we find someone else to take the Princess and maybe just go buy a boat that already floats?" To which she smiled and replied, "Can we name her Windfall?"
