    Hi!

Just bought a VP 2002,Before fitting it I decided it would be a good idea to run it up on a cradle at home. It fired up after a few turns and immediately revved its self silly.
Took the side cover off the engine to expose the linkage to the fuel rail expecting to find the linkage broken or disconnected but instead found the fuel rail was jammed solid. Removed an injection pump to discover it's obviously been replaced but but not lined up correctly when refitted and the pin on the pump has missed the slot in the rail and subsequently bent it.
I have removed the rail, straightened it and refitted it along with all of the linkage behind the cover. Now operating the stop leaver moves the fuel rail all the way to rear of the engine but moving the throttle lever doesn't seem to do anything.
Is the governor holding the fuel rail towards the front of the engine until it's started or does it sound like the governor has failed? Is there an easy way to check?
    thanks
    Big-bang1
