I was but I pop on and pop off pretty quickly because I'll otherwise spend too much time reading posts instead of other things like sleeping! Hope all is well BTW, I just joined another sailing meet-up (SF Bay Sailing, I think). If you two haven't already you should check them out. Lots of opportunities to go sailing.

Oh well that's good to know. I did a search on jeepers and the only thing I found was "Jesus people." Not that that's bad, mind you, but just wanted to be sure I was clued in

Just let me know about August. I always enjoy going out on my boat and the more, the merrier. I have also penciled it into my calendar so I don't schedule over it.

    Cheers,

Sure, I'd take you two sailing. I met another couple on this forum from Austin and we had a really nice day along with another 3 of my friends. I don't have too many weekends free, but right now June 29, Aug 9, Sept 6 or 7 are good. We'd have to check the weather. Most of the time it's good, but anything more than 28 knots and it's not as much fun. Just let me know.

    What are "jeepers"?

Sounds like you're committed. Sorry to hear your wife may not be as interested. Lots of people sail without their SOs, but it's always nicer when they're onboard, so to speak. As to the lessons, personally I learn better by doing than being told what to do so I sailed as much as I could before I took a lesson. Now that I've been sailing my boat a lot this past year, I realize I could use some one on one advice on approaching and leaving docks with wind coming at different angles and with obstacles in front or behind. If you can't get on a sailboat before your lesson, then it would be great if you went in with an understanding of the different points of sail, how a tack and gybe work in relation to the wind, and some common terminology such as jib sheets, main sheet, cunningham, outhaul, downhaul, luff, leach, windward, leeward, port, starboard, etc. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

    Hi Adam,

Nice to meet another SF sailing enthusiast. Lauren Eiseley is my friend who teaches sailing. She can be reached at leisele34 at hotmail dot com. Tell her I suggested you contact her for lessons. You might also want to take a look at all the sailing meetups that are around the region. People often post that they are looking for crew for racing or casual sailing so that's great way to learn about different boats, as well as how to deal with the conditions on the water.

Feel free to contact me offline (carliane@seajayenv.com), whenever you and Sheana are planning to trip to TI. I'm often sailing and would be happy to take you both out.

    Carliane
