Thanks for the reply, which I just noticed today! We actually live in Mesa, AZ and our boat is in Los Angeles, so getting tired to the long commute and CA taxes and slip fees. We'll see how it goes later this year, would love to make the trip but wife isn't sure - I'll be in touch.

I'm planning a similar journey as you have accomplished, beginning October 2014 with the Baja-haha. . I love the SW Florida. We have a lot and dock in Punta Gorda, and that will be our boating home base - may build a home on it someday as well (1306 Socorro Dr, PGI) Anyway, wish you the best and maybe cross paths in the future.
