Chris, We never had enough heat to worry about the bulkhead. You will notice a fan above the heater which was always on when the heater was running. This circulated the hot air and made the heater much more efficient. It also kept the bulkhead cooler. With no fan I would have installed a heat shield. We absolutely loved the heater and used it for several years in some pretty cold climate. Chuck

    Hello,

I was reading an old post about your Dickinson Newport heater. When I looked at the picture that you've posted I was suprised to see that there appears to be nothing installed as heat resistant material between the flue and the bulkhead.
Is it a double walled pipe or has the temperature not beel an issue in scorching the bulkhead. Have you been happy with this unit and does it put out enough heat to stay warm in the winter. I am considering the same unit and would greatly appreciate your response.

    Thanks,

    Chris
