When are you going to post some photos and a video of your Greenland adventure?

Yes, and I have just bought an Icom 802 SSB with Pactor modem. It's not installed yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Every long-distance cruising boat should have a radio shack, it seems to me.

    Hi Ken:

I primarily use mobile telephone internet while cruising. I have a Globesurfer III internet terminal with antenna mounted on first spreader. This distributes the internet connection by WiFi. I use T-Mobile in the UK which is brilliant. In France, I use Orange. It works great -- almost like WiFi at home.

I also have a Ubiquiti Bullet high power WiFi access point. This is also mounted up at the first spreader. I can connect to WiFi access points miles away with this. Sometimes seaside restaurants have WiFi; if you eat there, they give you the code. Then when you get back to the boat at anchor, you can still pick up the signal.

I also have a Globaltel sat phone hardwired. The previous owner of my boat installed it; I have never used it.

    That's about it!

    Cheers, Cameron

We have a similar sized Oyster 53. Just so that I can plan way ahead, approx. how much does it cost for a set of sails? Furling main, staysail and genoa. Ken

Indeed. We weren't anchored near you, by chance, in Havelet Bay in Guernsey, end of July? U.S. flagged Oyster 53, very beautiful boat, we spent a lot of time admiring her.

It sounds like we have a lot in common. We own an Oyster 53, our residence is 3300 miles away from the boat and we live on board 5-6 months per year out of Menorca, Spain.
