Thanks Karen! Seems we are almost in the same place. I am just getting my feet wet - found a nice guy at the local yacht club who is mentoring me about sailing - and I am working to put things in place to go when I can. I just turned 60 and my mom (who is 84) lives with me. Once the Old Girl has "gone home" as we call it, I will sell the house and go aboard. I sure appreciate the response. Wish you the best. Hi, Sorry I took so long to answer, but just saw the mess. I have not been at it at all. My boat is a 30' Bristol, shrink-wrapped for the winter in Ct. I will go there in Aug and take her down to Cape Canaveral. Once there I will take maybe six months to insure a watertight boat and a good engine and good electrical with solar power. Also during that time I will learn to sail! haha After two years of learning I plan to single hand. One never knows what will happen, but that's my plan A. I see absolutely no reason not to sail if you are in good health. Please retire as soon as you can collect your soc. sec. and follow your dream. It it not worth the time or the money to wait and wait for everything to be just RIGHT. YOU make it the right time by doing it. Keep in touch and I will do so too. I just read one of your posts and wanted to say hi and ask a question if I may? I am just turning 60 and am anticipating a live aboard situation when (and IF) I retire. I was completely and totally happy to see someone your age who has taken to this lifestyle and I just wondered how long you have been at it and how you are doing? Your post gave me some really positive inspiration and helped me understand that I am headed in the right direction!
