Many, Many tips - Our Hans Christian 38 is for sale again located in New York. It was a wonderful boat but I understand that it has not been well maintained by the new owner.
THings to look for:
Plywood delamination
leaking decks
chain plate corosion and leaks around the chain plates
Through hull fittings that cannot be accessed to lubricate
pealing paint on the inside of the hull
Blisters - Our boat was stripped and reglassed before we bought it.

Don't get the impression that this boat was more prone to problems than others - It wasn't. I would recommend a HC to anyone. It took great care of us and we were never concerned that the boat couldn't handle the worst of conditions.

Hey, love your boat! I'm about 1 1/2 years from retirement and looking for a Hans in the 38 ft. range, older version rather than newer. Any tips of things to look for or look out for?
