Maybe its the impression that they came here just to promote their blog?

I think a long time member or someone who at least participated in numerous posts, posting the same thing might get a different response.

You may not have read the members' responses, on the forums.

That's true of any board and most topics. Commercial posts by long time members aren't usually looked at as spam, because at least they've contributed something to the board.

True! But over there they were attacked in a much different, un-PC, sarcastic, even somewhat offensive at times (at least to the recipients I'm sure) kind of way, that I found at least mildly amusing.

Guess who. I suspect CF is being used for promotion by some rather than as a cruising forum.

grunzster,
I must admit that I like looking at a pretty face/body just as much as the next guy but when I read through the related thread on Sailing Anarchy, I was appalled that anyone would even think, much less post online, some of those rude, crude, sexist, even nasty comments. I actually felt embarrassed for Taru and Alex for being attached and ridiculed so mercilessly.

Makes me glad I'm not a member of that forum!

John,

I really just did a quick skim through, but I agree, some of those posts crossed the line. May have even gone down hill, since I saw it a while ago. But overall it wasn't necessarily any less welcoming than here. And at least some of the posts from the bashers had a little humor to them, where here a lot of it just came off as whining.

Its all part of the SA tradition ... you have to pay your dues. They can be hard of newbs but its all in good fun and soon over. But they don't suffer fools, that's for sure.

And before you come down too hard of SA, did you notice Taru got a front page pitch and will be providing some exclusive reports in the future? So, don't be too embarrassed for them, they are getting just want they wanted.
