Lightbulb Will dogs go in a litter box?

Hi folks,

Have any of you heard of or had any experience getting a small dog to go in a litter box? Seems like it would be a perfect solution to the main problem with having a dog as the "second mate".

My girlfriend's parents have one of those little yappy rat dogs that is trained to use a box. It has puppy pads instead of litter in it though. They are not boat based but I suspect that doesn't really matter.

Lots of cruisers use a piece of astroturf which they drag over the side to clean. I've seen small dogs use the tramp on a cat.

I have read of dogs trained to use a litter box or astroturf on a boat, they can be trained to do just about anything if you have the know how and patience.
good luck

I don't see why in the world you would want a dog to go in a litter box! Good luck teaching him to cover it up like a cat!

The worst part of a cat onboard is that they track their litter from their paws all over the cabin of your boat. I always thought one of the great advantages of a dog was that they'll do their business on the foredeck, and you can easily clean it up.

I have friends whose big dog always used the catamaran's trampoline. Now, that's the cat's meow!
