I am 56 and still color my hair because I like it. I think it is what feels right to you that counts. You are the one who is living with it.

16 pages and many months so far.

How could I have possibly missed this thread? Now must catch up.

Me - Half grey.
The wife - a couple of strands.
Her mother - 78 and only 1/3 grey.

Great hair genes. And teeth, and eyes, and legs, and well.......you know......other parts.

In the end, that is what I have done, I'm 58.

I don't know how you missed it!

I'm still coloring my hair, if I hadn't I would have been totally gray by 30, bad hair genes.

As for the others, I still have all my teeth (mostly straight). I have gorgeous green eyes (so hubby says). And killer legs -- 34" inseam and shapely (or so I am told).

3 out of 4 ain't bad -- I hope! LOL

Re: When To Go Gray ...

When I first started greying around age 45, the grey came-in this really ugly mousy color (my natural color was brunette/black). I took advantage of the situation to try every color EXCEPT my natural color - pink, purple, blue, red, blonde, etc. Great fun and possibly the result of mid-life crisis and divorce? When my BF and I first met, my hair was purple. He put in request for blond which he paid for (Hair Dye is dangerous, toxic stuff, and difficult to clean-up so I DON'T do this myself). In 3 years he has been through 12 different hair colors with me };>

Now that my hair is coming-in a pretty silver grey, I decided to get it cut really short to remove most of the dye and let the dye fade naturally from the hair that's left.

At first the BF was disappointed ... but when I pointed-out the cost savings, he got "on board" with the grey look hahaha. If you get a good haircut, grey can look fine, fun, and stylish. If you spend a lot of time in the sun, chances are the lines on your face will tell your age no matter what color the hair ... In any case, my BF doesn't care about hair color when it comes to love, but i suppose I could wear a wig if he needed hair color to get in the mood };>

How true this is! The sun really does make us look older, unfortunately. My derm has a heart attack when I show up with a tan. But even if I wear a high SPF sunscreen, I still get tan.

(Sorry, I know this has nothing to do with dying ones hair but couldn't resist! )

I have learned, between one husband and another, that a Real Man doesn't care what your hair colour is or how much make up you're wearing. He loves you just the way you are. I have thrown out the hair dye, most of the make up, (gotta feel a bit girly sometime) and looking forward to cruising without having to worry about getting to the hairdresser! As NatKat said, you still look your age whatever your hair colour.

Who was the guy between the two husbands?
