Don Lucas, you started this !

Knowing full well that it is bad luck - no, very bad luck to have women/an on board.
"Pliny - 2,000 years ago" The alternative is not one to be considered as has having merit.

Don, it is incumbent upon you to find us a carver of nubile ladies to adorn our bowsprits to calm the seas

Fat lot of good that does.
All the skipper can see is the back of the head of a solid log of strumpet.

How about carving all the grab rails to be boobies?

Just because you are not going to see another carved nubile for at least 2 months, the only boobies around are in the Galapagos and they have red feet not red boobs !!!!! Relax !
No boobs at all in Salalah.
Good Luck
Richard

Don't know about this but I think I'm getting a little too old to be the group pimp. I'm currently projecting the carvings out to everyone, you will have to be happy with this.

Hmm, it is bad luck to have a woman aboard but good luck to have a naked woman aboard (hence the naked figure head), I wonder how that superstition came about? It is also considered bad luck to have a Priest aboard, be left handed or use your left hand to board, wear a left boot....the list goes on and on.

To quote the great Jack Sparrow
Mr. Gibbs: it's frightful bad luck to have a woman aboard.
Jack Sparrow: It would be far worse not to have her.

My sentiment exactly.

What do men want in a boat?

Many men can not identify what they want. We think we know what we want but then comes the list--larger rig, larger engine, different propellor, more electrical power, and the list goes on and on. Women--No women!

I enjoy reading about Larry Pardey and Ann Hill. Larry Pardey and Ann Hill have engineless s/v. I am amazed where they have sailed. Yes, they have s.o. to share the sunsets and the challenges. I wish I had the knowledge about boats/engines/sails/experiences that some of the participants of this forum have. If I had enough room I woul load all of them aboard. That includes both sexes.

I think having one woman on board a large ship of men would be a problem.

As far as relationships go in my experience is that most woman have a large circle of close friends, men may have a large circle of friends but only one close one, his wife. Men would rather beat down an idea they are not familiar with. You see much here with the vitriol of someones idea. My woman is my confidant and my muse. As the caretaker of my trust, money, children and keeper of my secrets. it can be devastating to find out all the girls on the dock know I scratch my back with a spoon.

This is good news!! As far as I'm concerned she can have any catamaran she wants ... as long as it only has one hull. And romance, well, what could possibly be more romantic then my fantasies come true? It's like one of those moments at the movies where your eyes well up. Beautiful. Well, as long as she calls it beer and brings it to me in her underwear (or I bring it to her in mine) I can drink chardonnay ...
There's still hope!
