I grew up in the country too-did FFA & 4-H -the whole bit. Of course after trips to horse & cow breeders my Sex Ed class was quite disappointing!!

I have yet to live that one down

You couldn't find the conveyor belt, because it is a staircase

My son asked 'What do you mean'?

Well she said 'There are no trees?'

Totally confused he said 'What's with the trees?

Well she said ' There are no trees to make this wind so how can it be'?

He asked the obvious...'How do trees make wind'?

Totally serious she then said 'They wave the air'.

Apparently she had believed this from when she was little, probably taking her mum's cute explanation from when a child.

I will admit as a child i firmly believed the tide when high on our coastline the offshore islands facing us would therefore be having a low tide as surely the water in the straight 'tipped'

ANYMORE MISCONCEPTIONS? BE HONEST NOW
I knew this girl that told her kids that dogs ,cats and other animals along the road were sleeping, one day one of the girls said "that dogs going to get run over if he keeps sleeping in the middle of the road"...DVC

On the gangplank to the dock from a ferry in Skagway, Alaska, a lady looked up and said, "Look at the treeline! I wonder what altitude we're at?"

Sadly I have to admit I did as well. I was travelling a twisty mountain road like ALL day near Whistler BC. And I grew up in Reno, so Ski resorts and mountains and snow just ARE 5000+ feet, and I really didn't think we were that high... stopped at a restaraunt for lunch and it was so mountainous and the 'lakes' were so pretty I asked what the elevation was.

The clerk let me off easy "well, um... that water is the ocean, soooooooo ummmmm" me

Well I know that now, but this happened before Led Zeppelin recorded the song.

When I moved from Arkansas to Mississippi I was walking on the beach with my Arkansas sweetie and I saw a sign "Do Not Molest Wildlife", being originally from NY, I laughed at the sign, when she looked up she said "I knew what they said about Mississippi was true"

There was no way I wasn't going to google this

Rum is a liquor made from both fermented sugar cane and its syrupy by-product, molasses. The rum is aged in casks of various materials which determine its final color.

Light rum (also called silver or white) is fermented in steel and filtered and has a clear color and a light, slightly sweet taste. Gold or amber rums are aged in oak, which produces a more caramel color and richer, more pronounced flavor. Rich, caramel dark rum is made by aging clear rum in charred oak casks, giving it a deep brown color and a full flavor. Note that spiced rum, which is flavored with spices and (often) caramel, does not qualify as dark rum.

Re: Very Funny Misconceptions ...

I recall being admonished to not spill kool aid or soda around the house. If I did, it was necessary to clean it up right away. If I didn't, it would draw ants. For quite awhile, I was burning with curiosity on how inanimate liquid could "draw" ants and then make them live. None my experiments to find out ever worked.

I remember when I was about 4 or 5 years old and someone referred to an old oil drum out back as an "Esso drum". (Esso oil is the Canadian subsidiary of Exxon). I didn't understand why they were calling it only an S-O drum because it clearly said E-S-S-O on it.
