Re: Very Funny Misconceptions ...

My wife and I were complaining about the high cost of heating the house and I said we should have insulation added to it, and she was very serious when she said whats insulation got to do with heat. I still love her but she never figured out why I was LMAO

That rule was what made me decide that teachers just make things up. My last name, the street I lived on and my favorite subject all violated the rule, so it didn't help me spell anything I cared about.

That I would make such a dumb mistake is inconceivable...

Been in Aus too long. They don't spell here... just throw the letters at you in a heap and leave you to sort it out.

Re: Very Funny Misconceptions ...

In Seascouts I had a new junior officer who we were training to stand a watch. We got to a bridge and told him you need to call the bridge so it can get raised. He asked, what's the name of the bridge? I said, check the chart, it's printed on the chart. So he looks at the chart, gets on the radio and calls, Bascule bridge, Bascule bridge, Bascule bridge.

I thought Elvis was singing "In Nagaretow". I figured it was a town somewhere.

I can read it, but not as quickly as I can well written language. I have actually seen better versions f this - I had to stop and decipher several words here whereas there are some examples that I can scan. Other research suggests that it is actually the first and last letter plus the skyline that makes this possible. It also turns out that reading comprehension suffers. We can get through it, but if done with details over more than a short paragraph, we don't glean as much information.
