That Guardrail Netting

So very excited becuase our time afloat is getting ever nearer. My boyfriend (and kids father) is setting off on the ARC race today and I will be flying to St lucia on the 16th of December to start our extended sailing with him and the kids,

I am trying to buy some guardrail netting and was wondering if anyone knows much about it... are there different types? I have seen some online that ranges in price from £3.00 per metre to £1.75 per metre and so I am guessing that they must vary in some way but I can't work out how. Anyone got any advice as to which brand/type?

Usually cheaper to find a supplier of netting for sports like football (soccer) goals netting than buying from a marine supply.

ah good idea... I guess it doesn't have the word "marine" in front of it so it is half the price!

beware of polypro netting, won't last in the sun like plain old nylon. There will be a price difference though.

Netting by square foot, cut to order nets, any size sport netting, nylon nets, nylon pe nets

If you live close to where there are commercial net fishermen, ask them for scrap or go to where they buy their netting. It's real easy to install, just get net twine and a net repair needle, it' real cheap.

Yes, get the sports or other type netting as it's MUCH cheaper. Also, you can get these non-marine types in black instead of white. I personally think black looks much sharper, and it doesn't get stained. But the REAL reason to use black is that visibility through black netting is much greater than through white. (Try looking through a white window screen -- you can't see much at all because of reflected light. And that's why they make all new screening in black or a very dark brown.)

The nicest I've seen is black nylon. Softer than some others.

I meant to say that Nylon will last shorter than Polyester.
