Sailing with dogs..

Hi,
I am new to this forum and my apologies in advance if this has been covered 101 times before but I was after some helpful advice on sailing with a dog with customs checks etc. in various countries. We are still on the hunt for our catamaran but just trying to get some homework done now…
Cheers,
Nic.

Re: Sailing with dogs..

Hi Nic,

I think this question has actually been discussed 102 times or now 103 counting this one.

Problem is it varies with every country but most do seem to have restrictions and quarantine. I have heard about getting pet passports that show they have been vaccinated and certified disease free by a vet. May work with some countries.

Think you need to check country by country exactly where you plan to visit.

So where do you plan to cruise? From Oz I guess you can go east or west, to SE Asia or the Pacific Islands or do your plans go further afield?

My daughter went to Tulane. Have never heard her say anything complimentary about LSU.

Re: Sailing with dogs..

At this stage we would like to sail up the Queensland coast through the Whitsunday Islands then up to Indonesia & Malaysia. Then see where the wind blows us from there.
We would like to travel for about 2 years but plan is to not have a set plan!

Re: Sailing with dogs..

I suspect your biggest problem will be getting your dogs back into Australia at the end of your cruise!

Re: Sailing with dogs..

Yeah, I thought returning to Australia would be my biggest concern. Probably a month in Quarantine plus any injections etc. I have some homework to do....

Thanks.
