Kids activities/toys

We move aboard our sailboat next week heading north from Beaufort, SC with our two little girls, ages 3 and 4. I was wondering what items, toys, crafts, ect. others found that their kids loved playing with and would recommend taking along. Also as we travel along the ICW, are there any stops that would be recommended specially for a fun kids activity. Thanks!

Re: Kids activities/toys

Books. Lots of books. At that age our daughter was happy for us to read the same ones over and over so we got a lot of mileage from the books. If you have a music system then CDs are good as well.

Puzzles and games with lots of little parts, bits and pieces can be a problem keeping together.

If you haven't experienced this already, we found when cruising with our daughter that one of us had to be 100% focused on parenting all at all times. With two on board that meant we were essentially sailing singe handed since only one person would be free to do boat things like sail handling, docking, etc.

When my kids were little they had many hours of fun with toy fishing rods, with no hooks. They can cast and reel in the weighted plastic fish.
