How Many Pairs of Shoes do you Carry Aboard?

Recently, I violated the inner most sanctum of my wife's domain. (the closet)

I made a shocking discovery. She has 39 pairs of shoes. Thirty-Nine.

So now that I'm on this dark road of discovery I thought I would risk going a little further and ask the ladies of CF... How many shoes do you carry aboard? And what do you feel an acceptable number? Will I have to gut the wet locker to build a motorized shoe caddy?

The guilty dragoness lording over her cache of shoes.

And more...

Perfectly reasonable. Don't try to pair it down, you'll regret it. Find a way. A good woman deserves all the nice shoes she wants. Don't ever count them again, just let it stay unmentioned. No guilt for her. JMHO. Buy her a nice pair of rubber foulie boots to add to the collection. Gill has some snazzy ladies boots.

Hey! I asked for women's opinions. No comments from the peanut gallery.

You honestly expect women to tell you how many pairs of shoes they own? Might as well ask them how old they are while you're at it, LOL! OK, no more peanut gallery, we'll see what the ladies have to say for themselves...

I must have quite a few. I distinctly remember being laughed at during a wedding because my dress shoes showed off my "five finger tattoo" (tan line from vibram's) and the first cold morning of the season because my partner had not seen me cover my toes in at least six months.

Re: How many pairs of shoes do you carry aboard?

Oh, now you have started something! My husband is on a mission -- counting all the shoes I have collected on the boat over the past 6 1/2 years of cruising full-time.........

And the final count is: 21 pair, not counting water/swim shoes in the cockpit lazzarette

And I still do not have a single 'nice' pair of shoes for dressing up or a pair of hiking boots.

FWIW, I had 109 pair of shoes in my closet when we had our first garage sale to empty the house and move aboard. Most were 'work' high heels and donated to the Dress for Success charity that outfits needy women for job interviews.

A woman can never have too many shoes.

I'm a barefoot sailor....

I own two pairs of thongs (flip-flops, not the other kind!), one pair of GOOD hiking boots, one pair of dressy sandals, one pair of GOOD water sandals, and a pair of sailing boots. But then Ive never been much good at being a girl.... !

Re: How many pairs of shoes do you carry aboard?

As a peanutter i have to say that i would not carry any shoes on board, but i may wear them to get aboard. Secondly, what if you are a male but have a ladies shoe fetish? Can you have enough?

Re: How many pairs of shoes do you carry aboard?

Although my better half very unfairly often accused me of having a shoe fetish back home, I only have four pairs on board (three of these are crocs, an old pair of which is reserved for antifouling).

I now love the freedom of being barefoot most of the time. Tanned feet and red nail polish need no adornment .

Hmmmm, maybe I should change my user name to Barefoot Lass?

PS A small tip for all the men on on CF - if you value your marriage, I suggest it is NOT a good idea poking around in your wife's closet, let alone pulling out all her shoes, counting and photographing them. Seriously not a good idea.

How about Bareworthy Lass? Of course we would need pics to support the claim.

Re: How many pairs of shoes do you carry aboard?

One pair of tennis shoes, one pair Sperry topsiders, one pair flats dressy, one pair high heeled sandals, one pair low heeled sandals, one pair shower/crocs, and vinyl foulie boots for a total of 7 pairs. Not disclosing how many pairs I had prior to disposing of over half our household goods but I did keep, in storage, a half dozen pairs of vintage 1940's and '50s shoes as collectibles.

Re: How many pairs of shoes do you carry aboard?

As Lassie said, it is seriously not a good idea to count (or comment on) you partners amount of shoes.

Imelda Marcos had over 4000 pair of shoes. I have never yet met a woman who thought that was too many. Their only concern was "Where in the world would I put them?"

Let's face it -
A man cannot own enough tools
A woman cannot own enough shoes

These are universal laws of nature. Do NOT attempt to fight them.

By the way Target - are you still married?
