Eve Ensler: Happiness in body and soul | Video on TED.com

Not a blog but a video worth watching, IMO.

Not a blog, but a good read
Two in a Boat: The True Story of a Marital Rite of Passage
Written by Gwyneth Lewis. Not exactly a sail into paradise, bit more gritty realism. I enjoyed it, passed it on to the GF to read, in the hope that our adventures would not be as bad as some of those described in the book

Re: For women, by women

It is a great idea to have a women's forum discussing pressing issues that affect women while cruising. Everyone would be welcome to participate. Fair is fair; much of the posts on here are written by men. Happy new year! Mauritz

I/we would read your blog Connie.

My wife found this . Great Mysterious A couple from DE that both write the blog. We've enjoyed it.
My wife won't post because she sees people getting jumped on, and doesn't want to get jumped on. For what its worth.

Have been on here a few years now and didn't even know there was a Mermaids group. I find the sub-menus for the Forums tab are difficult to use as a lot don't show up when you scroll over. Have sent in my request to join, not because I want to exclude the men but because it gets a bit lonely out here with only the hubby to talk to. The only other female cruiser in this marina only speaks French!

Such a sad reflection on things is that statement.

Re: For women, by women

While anchored, you need to entertain yourself with hobbies. SCUBA diving with fellow boaters, is a suggestion. Trekking on a deserted island, is another. Cooking and sharing a favorite meal or a special pastry, is yet another. I prefer water-related hobbies that many boaters like to share. For a special occasion, I'll even cook some baklava; my great-grand-mother's recipe. While in French Polynesia, I went ashore to photograph wild vanilla orchids and jasmine; it didn't hurt to sample a freshly fallen coconut, and pick up a few mangoes for lunch. While the boat anchored next to you might be from Zanzibar, a short dinghy ride to that boat with a few pastries at hand will break the ice. While this is not for everyone, I design electric circuits for toys that yet to be put together; that's how I keep myself entertained while anchored. When cruising, and if it is rocking... Happy New Year! (I can't wait to attend the Dallas boat show, in February.)
