Cooper, an "Aussie mix" is Austrailian Shepard or Cattle dog and something else. Ours is Aussie and perhaps some Sheltie or other. Aussie mixes are getting more common in the US. The dogs too.

Its funny how "brand names" change. We dont have anything called Australian Shepard here. A shepard in "ostrayleeanne" is an alsation or german shepard. A cattle dog is usually a heeler (blue or red) often crossed with "sumthin unknown" or a kelpie again possibly crossed. A heeler is possibly a breed that came from a smithfield crossed with dingo, because the smithfield didnt like getting the crap kicked out of it by big queensland cows, hence also known as the queensland heeler.
There is a lot of mythology about Australian working dogs !!

and it seems to agree. Bloody good thing because I had a Blue heeler for 15 years (named blue)
*Note to understanding "stryne"....To "have a blue" means to have a fight. A "bluey" is either a thick felt like coat or a speeding ticket. A person who is called "bluey" or "blue" probably has red hair. *

Whilst it’s true that local dialect, idiom, & vernacular can make for confusion, and even unpleasantness, I think there are some clues, in this specific instance.

1. A Canadian would be less likely to address one as “Mate”, than would an Australian. Accordingly I’d be expecting a fight from your invitation.

2. A Canadian would more likely invite you to have a beer thus: “Hey hoser get over here , eh, cause I wanna have a Blue with ya, eh."

I've got a red heeler named Ginger. Sometimes she is worse than having a 2 year old around. But she LOVES the boat, I think she likes it better than the house. She does her thing up forward, no problem. First time onboard took her about a day before she quit holding it. The only problems I have with her onboard is she ate some plastic tabs that held the furled dodger panels in place (Have to change over to some nylon ones), and when docking I have to lock her in the salon, too much barking.
