We have a Newfoundland, so we know about fur.
The best way to reduce fur is to groom regularly, and our not so secret weapon of a Metro air force blaster. The air blaster blows out the fur, water and dirt from his coat far far better than any vacuum cleaner will ever do. Saves on wet towels everywhere as well.
Takes about 10 minutes to clean this up.

Only problem you may have on a boat is the power to run an air blaster.
The air blaster has 101 other uses as well.
