Do I need to take travel insurance?

Hi there,
I am going for a trip to the Heart Island along with my family in the next month. It is a 16 days trip. I heard about the travel insurance https://www.aspirefcu.org/blog/life-...vel-insurance/ and would like to know more about it. We already have whole life insurance, so, will this be enough for traveling? Can we get the compensation for the loss occurred, if any, during the traveling from the whole life insurance or do we need to take a travel insurance for that?

Life insurance is only good if you intend dying while on your trip. For travel insurance you should first check what health insurance you've got. It varies from country to country and policy to policy. It would help if you identified where you're from and what health coverage you've got.

Travel insurance is for sickness or injury. For years we sailed without travel insurance. We were young and invincible. Now we don't leave home without it.

For a 16 day trip travel insurance should not be too expensive, especially if you have yet to reach retirement age and are in good health.

This seems to be another case where Cruisers Forum is thought to be related to cruise ships rather than yotties and t heir privately owned vessels.
