Re: A Woman's Needs

The biggest thing she needs is for me to remember that what she needs is 100% as important to her as what I need is to me.
My wife is a reasonable woman. She isn't careless with finite resources, but she is a safety nazi.
I will charge off with great purpose and no direction, sure that I can kill a dragon with a pen knife. She will point out that the dragon isn't hurting anyone at all and doesn't need slaying.

If you are referring to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic - I can attest to the beauty, charms, and feminine disposition of these glorious women. But there is good news and bad news.
- - The bad news is you really cannot take them out of the country without years and reams of complications, paperwork and money.
- - The good news is that like the "Sirens of Greece" you really don't want to leave and go anywhere else anyway. There is an endless supply of them.

Re: A Woman's Needs

Greg,

If you are inquiring about a specific lady, then, 1) ASK her what she thinks she needs, and 2) take her out for a weekend trip, either alone or with another couple, so she can evaluate her perceived needs in the field. Also, before setting up your boat for a specific woman find out if she even LIKES the lifestyle. If she doesn't you will have a miserable time keeping her happy enough to hang around with you.

If you are asking about ladies needs in general, set up your boat the way a decent, respectable man would live, an learn to live that way yourself.

Hygiene?? Yes, please - not only for yourselves, but for your friends too. Baby wipes and solar showers keep many couples happy.

The only specific thing I can add to all the previous good advice is having a 12V electric blanket or two on board. Mmm mmm nice.

daddle, just FYI, my last husband has his own boat - His and Hers boats didn't work either. Send me a postcard, would ya? xoxo

High Heels - I had waist length hair for 40 years, Never could imagine having short hair. I chopped it all off pretty quick after getting my boat, and within a year decided to try the Sinead O'Connor look just for grins. Oooh! I found out that I have a pretty head, the low maintenance is heaven, and it is amazing what you can do with hair that is only one inch long. Give it a try - it will grow back if you don't like it.

I must agree with happy sailor in his support of the Raritan PHII. It survived my last husband, which means it is at least as tough as I am. I have named the head Caesar because it needs so much oil and vinegar.

atoll - your new thread about "what a man needs" will be about, umm, well, ahem, 0.1524 meters long. Everybody knows that.

Most women want a man who makes them feel wanted and needed. If you desire arm candy then do what it takes to make her feel wanted and needed - she needs the facilities to stay beautiful, and a man and boat who look as good as she does. If you want a lady with a brain, you will need a brain too. If you prefer a rugged lady, then accept that on occasion she might smell and look as bad as you do. You can either have your cake or eat it, but either way, remember to kiss the cook. Speaking of kissing the cook ... learn how to prepare several simple, tasty balanced meals. And it is a good idea to help with the dishes too.

Heck, I demand and do all that! Well, coffee instead of tea...

Re: A Woman's Needs

Here is one major reason finding a woman under 60 in the USA or other major western countries where the young woman have had decades of brainwashing that being a wife/partner with a man is something degrading . . .
- - There have probably been at least 2 or 3 generations of young girls now that have been bombarded with daily TV and movies and magazines hyping the theme that being a traditional wife/partner/helpmate to a man is a horrible fate.
- - However, you cannot stop the evolution of a society anymore than hold back the tides of the oceans. So if you are looking for a woman who's needs can be satisfied with life on board a sailing vessel, I would suggest looking elsewhere than in major western "feminist-ized" countries. There is one major exception and that is couples who grew up together as best buddies their whole lives or women from "frontier" environments where access to the barrage of anti-traditional man-woman relationships never reached.

How to explain how wrong your analysis is ... ?! I'll just say that need is different from want. Self sufficiency gives women options to choose the kind of relationship she wants with the man (men) she wants.

Wow - have things got that bad in the Land of the Free?

Surely most women want (fundamentally) what most men want? A companion to travel life's journey with? Someone to share the happiness and sadness, the sweetness and the sorrows and to banish loneliness so that you're not alone in the night, miserable or cold?

Hi Minty.... as Flysci stated... very poetic...
Problem is how the priorities suddenly change once you take the hook.... really painful shaking it loose...

Home is the you, the world and your boat becomes..... home is where my family are and if we don't fly home your in deep ****.... as many ARC sailors can testify...
so when you get to my age... after many trials... my boat and I find to leave love in the harbour is the way to go...
Flagellism is great for a while.. but like everything else it can become boring and tiresome...
But... there's this little optomist sits on my shoulder whispering... maybe, maybe... just maybe.... lol
