Well.... surely it depends on the parts?

To answer the original question "What does a woman need (or want)?".... attention, love, hugs and cuddles. Get that right and most of the rest can be sorted.

We could not have been more foolish. We fell in love I with her beauty and wit and she because I represented the exotic, adventurous and romantic and she said she wanted to leave and sail to the corners of the earth but she left a large traditional stable household where she had built a life for twenty plus years around a lot of elaborate and for her rewarding routines and rituals for dressing, doing laundry, personal hygene. She left behind large closets, one specifically for shoes alone and a life of appliance aided ease. I bought up in size to a boat which was too large for my taste even at 32' that was a good value but also contained things I did not want,as in water heater, pressure water, 2 shower features and added extra storage...
All this adds up to two people whose dreams were far to at odds with their real desires and natures and after a long and difficult period of attempted adjustment with very much compromise on both ends we are very near walking away rather than sailing away.
I dunno if this would help anyone... I am not a solo sailor by nature and my own take on Hal Roth's statement that the best crew is your wife is that the best person to share the voyaging with is someone you love. Elsewise I say F&%#k the pink and blue stuff... we all have our skills temperments and needs... mutual flexibilty, patience and don't forget the PLEASURE

P.S. Endoftheroad: Dreadlocks have to be kept clean...Rasta don't like no dirty hair and the maintenance of dreads is no easy business... this has been one of our challenges...

Oh! make sure that dinghy is a RIB - hard floor - not a pure inflatable. Those 5 inch stilleto high heels do a real number on a inflatable dinghy floor.

The sad part is that's not really that far off. She was scuba diver, though, and a sailor, who claims she even wants to buy her own boat and cruise. If nothing else, I guess I at least dodged a bullet.

Just got back from a week off on the boat. We went there with the idea of sailing to the tortugas and back... On the drive to the boat, I mentioned some of the boat chores I wanted to attend to..... she said "well, lets just spend the week on the dock and knock them out together". So we did.... and she paid half of everything bought at the chandlery!

God I love that woman!

I resent that! I'm American (can't help that) and I am definitely UNplugged from the "American Dream". And I can get down and dirty with the best of 'em. Of course, I'm not young like the "ladies" in your photos. Takes time to achieve wisdom!
