Re: A weasel onboard.

I would be very careful with the weasel, cause I think it's sick, possibly even rabid.
I say this cause even a strong, healthy cat is no match for a weasel, so I figure something has to be wrong with it.

I would strongly agree with the power of the weasel vs cat. While we've seen many casually swimming by, the only one that was caught was by accident. And it chewed it's leg off to get free. Yikes !

Do they like water hoses and wiring ?

Re: A weasel onboard.

You guys are a hoot!! .[emoji1]Actually some really good suggestions have been made. I like the idea of making the space under the floor not so comfortable. The little begger didn't eat any cat food last night, but as mentioned, he may not be interested in eating for a bit even if he's still alive. We're headed back to the dock today and this gives me a perfect opportunity to buy one of those very cool scopes that you can thread into little places and inspect/find things. I've wanted one for a long time and this is a situation when I can get it past the goalie.[emoji106][emoji41]

This sounds like the beginning of a great script for Big Bang Theory[emoji23]

Re: A weasel onboard.

I would not put dry ice in the bilge either, unless you intend to kill it.
However that would be a very effective way to kill it relatively humanely

I would not count on it being alive if it doesn't eat soon. Weasels have a very high metabolism and can't go very long without eating.

I suggest that you consult an extermination company.

Basic Sets

We call them "weazie boxes". It's just a weasel, not a honey badger. No need to panic.

For whatever reason I thought a grown cat would kick weasels ass. Isnta weasel about the same as a ferret?

Re: A weasel onboard.

Have you very carefully examined the cat for bites or other injuries? Rabies is a nasty though which has already been raised. Like others, a cat getting the better of a full-grown weasel (was it full-grown?), seems ulnikely, but a big, experienced hunter may have managed it.

Good luck.

I think the weasel was a young one. Also it seems it might have taken cover in some lines in the cockpit. At least the really stunk. If it tried to hide in the lines tithe cat would have had no problem getting him. I agree that he would not have fared well against an adult weasel. They can be really nasty

Re: A weasel onboard.

Great news. Little muddy footprints on and around the head. Looks like it's live trap time and perhaps avoid tearing the boat apart

Re: A weasel onboard.

I was deer hunting one time and a little weasel ran past me on the trail, from my rear, carrying a dead mouse. He got about 10 or so feet ahead of me, put down the mouse and turned around and hissed at me. I had to laugh but at the same time it kind of sent a chill up my back.

I could just imagine blowing off my leg if he came after me.
