Re: A new Coastie!

Congrats to her and to you! As an ex-Coastie myself I know she made a great choice for service. Keep us posted about what rate training she chooses and where her first duty station is. Should she choose a ship/boat she will learn skills and gain experience that will serve her well on the water for a life-time.

Re: A new Coastie!

Congrats. Since the Coast Guard moved to share out pier at CMA, us in the merchant sector feel an even closer kinship to Coasties.

She is one of 7 girls going into active duty. I wish I could have done it myself so that makes me even more proud of her! She's a strong woman and I know she will make this a successful choice for her life.

Re: A New Coastie !

Glad to see you refering to her as a Coastie instead of a Guardian. A retired Coastie sends.

Re: A New Coastie !

Aloha and congratulations to your daughter. I hope her CG career is as rewarding as my Navy career was to me.

I am so pleased to see a young person starting out by joining the seagoing military to get them off on the right foot. I read on this forum about graduates wanting to go to sea and asking advice about how to find employment that involves boating. In my opinion, this is the perfect answer.

kind regards,
