Wife went off the deep end, chickens? On my boat?

Really, last night over a card game, she suggested having chickens on board.
Now, I love my eggs, my girls lay for me and I do nice things for them. But I have never heard of any one keeping chickens on a boat.

Having grown up around chicken farms you couldn't pay me enough to live around those birds. Chickens are the nastiest animals I have ever had the displeasure of smelling.

We used to have chickens in the back garden. 5 produced more eggs than 4 of us could use. Great for eating slugs and things in the garden which they had free run of. They would gang up and chase the dog if he got too nosey.

However, there is no way I would have them on a boat, the poop stunk.

I know a guy who has one of those mobile-coops that he drags along a cow pasture. Maybe you can tow a little chicken barge behind you. I'm sure customs officials worldwide will give you a green light for that.

I've raised chickens and turkeys. If you think chickens are bad, try turkeys. Never again. Ducks make a far better choice.

tough enough traveling & checking in with a dog. Can't imagine arriving in most places with farm animals.

Most of the turkeys I kept were captured wild game turkeys although thrown in with a few 'domestics' that friends gave me. I will tell you it seemed the wild birds pretty much adopted the behaviors of domestic variety. Maybe because of change of environment or what not but they had several acres in which to roam. Turkeys are smart critters though and I do much prefer the gamey taste. I reckon wild turkeys abound in most every state of the union. I just won't ever again keep 'em.
