What is the name of that drink that came written as "fruit punch" but it is not?
I went to an island in the carib and one day, I had the goal to see the french way of going to the beach, if you know what I mean. I walked and walked. Even though it was a small island, there are hills and even though the beaches were public, rich people made houses around it. So I walked some more with a clear goal in mind. Water bottle running out, I soon became thirsty, a lot. It was not hot, windy but I soon wanted a drink.
"How much more to the beach?" I asked the secuirty guard of one of those communities of houses.
"Oh, just 15 minutes". By car, he meant because I walked more than 30 minutes and all the houses were empty. I was getting worried at this point but soon a speed bump appeared and a car slowed down. Inside the car, an old french couple. Teachers on vacation, They drove me to the beach, they were going there too.
Beach deserted. Looked great but the only thing in sight was an expensive boat, small cruiseship.
They drove to another beach, paid for my lunch. I refused once. Now comes the drink part, I did not want anything alcoholic, so the only thing written there was "fruit punch". There were fruits in it for sure but it is not like anything I have seen online. I remember papayas. It was delicious. Never tasted anything like it.
On the way back, they dropped me off in a beach that was only 30 min walk from where I was staying. I saw the french way on a polish woman that I forgot the name, we talked a lot. What a sight, pictures are not important. Just to close that part of the story.
So another day, I saw cars stopped on a curve around 10:30 AM, I thought there was a problem but no. They were all making line for a fruit punch stand.
What is the most likely recipe of this heavenly drink?
Thank you

This is the kind of thread that makes want to travel farther than my gulf coastal US wandering. Maybe someday.

Hey Atoll,
I Know you love pasties as you mentioned you wanted some before.
HERE are what us Yanks know as pasties! :big grin:
https://www.etsy.com/market/nipple_pasties
I'm still trying to figure the Brit speak for "injuring" oneself whilst in Egypt. Some funny stuff
sir!
As to the question at hand. There is a caribbean fruit punch...
1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice " about 6-8 limes"
1 cup simple syrup.
1 cup grenadine syrup.
3 cups rum -
2 cups pineapple juice.
1 cup orange juice.
1 cup pomegranate juice.
10 drops angostura bitters.
That would be 3 CUPS of rum......what else truly matters? hehe

,as for injuring oneself in hurghada, those russian birds can be pretty athletic.......and one always needs to be on the watch out for "galloping knob rot"when "rumpulling the ribeana" of soviet vixens

Different pronunciation as well as meaning.
Them's US "pay - stees" or "pace - tees"
As opposed to Cornish "pass - tees". (as in US "ass", not UK "arse")

Re: What is the name of that drink that came written as "fruit punch" but it is not?
to that basic fruit punch recipe try adding mangos papayas and some other tropical only items and holy punchme batkid, you have a tropical delight.
gotta add the tropical fruits for the smoothness and texture and FLAVOR.
down here i noticed less sugar syrup added and more tropical fruits, and RIPE not the kind found in usa in markets, but tree fresh. makes a HUGE difference.
bananas, mangos papayas and others..guayabana, dates... donot need simple syrup when you have real fruits. especially these sweet tropical fruits.
i watched as my friends who tend bar in barra de navidad tossed fruits into a blender...pineapples, bananas mangos papayas.... and so thick and yummy then they tossed in tequila or rum for which ever drink in progress... the hooch thinned out the smoothie so it was a cocktail.... no sugar added no cream added..was perfection. yes i donot drink but my friends handed me samples..holy mangos momma the stuff was divine.

YES! I also like what Zee wrote....more fresh ripe fruit and less if any simple syrup.
While cruising, we would squeeze the crap out of our over-ripe fruit in the morning and let it marinate in rum all day. Then add more rum and whatever we have at hand to make our sundowners. Blender would've been nice, but still yum and STRONG....fruit hides the booze. Nothing like showing up at the beach bar already half blotto.

yup the bestestest thing about cruising in tropics is the fruit.... yummm and the awesome better than in usa rum ..hahahahaha
sugar, hell. aint needed./
and pineapples are YELLOW not green when ripe. mangos have zero green on when ripe...
and those lil key lime looking limones are almost sweet when ripe....

Re: What is the name of that drink that came written as "fruit punch" but it is not?
Way to much work and science for this ol skipper.
We keep in simple....on board or at home, or at a beach bar.
1. Glass
2. Fill with Ice
3. Pour in Dark Rum .....( bottle is spiked with one small bottle of vanilla extract ),
4. Leave a little room for a splash of water
5. Illuminate the party light.
Erica keeps it simples as well
1. Glass fill with ice
2 Nix in some frozen LIME JUICE. Stir it up little darling .
3. Add a shot or two of barcardi rum.
4. If room, add a little more water, and a little more stiring
6. Crank on the Caribbean, Hawaiian, or Tahitian Music.
