OK Zee, I get the root, and the beer, but what is a 'float', and why is it so desirable...????

Coops.
Ditto in Canada and the US. Production beer is like bubbly water. yuck! Microbrews on the other hand..... or some of the smaller brewers are pretty darn good.

Re: What Can you not find in Certain Countries While Cruising?

For some reason, spiced rum has only recently made an appearance on liquoir store shelves here, although we've had the generic Capt Morgan for a while.

I've tried afew of them and the pick for me is one called Buckeye....

But I'm guessing there must be 'boutique' rum distillers all over the Caribbean...???

A big fan of Rum, but not so much the spiced variety... I do like Pussers "Royal Navy" Rum though.

Hey Buzz, tried the James Squire Copper Ale? Bloody lovely. See you on TSP.

Spiced rum is awful, Strong and dark rum has to be. Just like chocolate. Both together, awesome.

Root beer is a carbonated, sweetened beverage, originally made using the root of a sassafras plant as the primary flavour.
Float: Spoon a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream into a tall glass. Slowly pour root beer into the glass, allowing the foam to rise and then recede before adding more root beer.
Delicious & refreshing!

I could get you a pie and rb float down there tomorrow- but the ice cream would melt and they spray the cherries with some obnoxious insecticide in customs (don't ask me how I know that!) So let me just wish you- as one yank to another- Happy Thanksgiving!
BTW- I am going to miss Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce when I get out there. Its one of those Yankee things....

Wow, pumpkin spice... err what does does taste like (apart from pumpkin & spice)???

We had Fish & Chip ice cream for a while in Perth - was a novelty ice cream promoted by large Fish & Chip outlet (of course) and tasted a little like fish & chips without the salt and vinegar. Not sure if it is available.
