Storing large utensils?
Any ideas on storing spatulas, wooden spoons, bottle openers, etc? I used to have a junk drawer but I don't want that on the boat where it will rattle around and be disorganized. In my house I also used a jar with these items sticking up, but that's not practical on the boat either. Looking forward to your creative, brilliant thoughts. Annie

Same here. A plastic utensil tray sitting on top of the large stuff in a drawer.

Re: Storing large utensils?
How about this? A simple 4" PVC tubing screwed to the cabinet.

Re: Storing large utensils?
as there are no drawers on my boat, i use a fishnet window cover for hanging scissors, openers, funnels, chopstix, and stuff.....works great...some things i use an S hook to keep in place, but it all hangs innet.

Re: Storing large utensils?
I have bamboo/wooden utensils which were too long to put in a drawer so I chopped about an inch off the handle and threw them in a drawer.

Re: Storing large utensils?
I have mine hung on a hook (pair down to those you absolutely need). I threaded a piece of twine through holes in the handles and hung them on a hook. Another piece of twine tied horizontally around the handles keeps them from banging around during a sail.
Hope this helps.

Re: Storing large utensils?
With an end cap, a piece of 4" PVC pipe, about 8" tall, screwed to the inside of the door to the galley sink area, and if they rattle, stick a sponge in with them, or dish towel. Obviously, vertical mount.

Re: Storing large utensils?
You guys are great! I enjoyed both the funny replies and the serious ones. Pics are appreciated too, of course. Boy, my boat refit has really come along if I'm thinking about storing utensils...

Re: Storing large utensils?
We use Sistema storage boxes. Fit rather well into lockers. Mostly the 7 litre and 3.5 litre ones.
I don't like drawers. Time consuming and expensive to make, poor use of space on a boat and inflexible.
