Sodastream Review?

I'm a Diet Coke snob. Not Diet Pepsi, Coke Zero or any of those others . . . Diet Coke!

Wondering if anyone has a sodastream and what you think of their diet cola? I could alter my standards to save space & can/bottle storage!

Re: Sodastream Review?

We have one for use at home and on boat. Love it!! Just be aware, they have diet cola which is not diet coke. Grand kids are pop consumers and love all flavors.

I know it's so subjective! What about the other flavors? Like the idea of carbonation & mixing different fruity flavors . . .

Why not build your own. Much more cost effective. More fun too.

Re: Sodastream Review?

Like any product they try and compare themselves to existing products - for example they make their diet cola product look like diet coke. If you are happy with better versions of generic diet coke products you will like their products. If you align your expectations towards discovering flavors they offer that you like rather than trying to replicate flavors you know you already like you will be very satisfied.

FYI - the prices work out to the same as if you were to buy a case of soda at a store but the carbonation can be expensive. I bought an adapter that allows me to use regular refillable paintball cylinders which are about $5 to fill and last longer than the ones they sell.

i have had it and thought the diet cola was really pretty good. I think they got most of the flavors well.

Still on the fence about it, because the carbonation cartridges are expensive enough that I didn't think I would save quite as much money as I thought. But I think I'll take a second look at it.

And I keep saying you can learn to do anything on the internet! The systems I'm finding so far to make your own are pretty large . . . I'll keep noodling with it and thanks for the tip on the adapter for the cartridges. That's a great tip!

Re: Sodastream Review?

It's really about convenience. We drink a lot of sparkling water. We could buy 12 liters of bottled seltzer each week, or we can get one soda stream cartridge refilled about once per month. I think it works out to be a little less expensive than brand name seltzer. I drink it plain, but my wife likes to add a bit of Marco Polo raspberry syrup.

Re: Sodastream Review?

Tried it our selves and really enjoy it. Now the grandkids each have one and we are watching how much the dental bills will drop! Never being a soda drinker it is a refreshing change and straight soda water tastes fine... must try it with scotch... Phil

Skipping the soda stream entirely

www.truetex.com/carbonation.htm

Avoid issues with parts being obsolete, and refilling small canisters using industrial components and 1 or 2 liter pop bottles.
I plan to build one soon.

Was even wondering if the tank could double as a co2 fire extinguisher.... since that is often a co2 tank with a trigger on it according to the site linked...

Or if you want the small and portable already built aspect, and the ability to use standard co2 cartridges.
