Silly lurker question

Hello all. I enjoy reading all I can here. I have a silly question-how do you all keep track of what fish/conch/etc you can harvest and where?

Re: Silly lurker question

According to your profile you are from South Dakota. Well, if you were going to Nebraska, and wanted to do a little fishing, what would you do? You could just go down and start fishing, and hope that you don't get arrested. Or (the smarter thing to do) you could do a little research to find out what the laws are ahead of time.

Same thing when you travel from one country to another.

Re: Silly lurker question

Yep, it changes as to regulations. Some countries have seasons for conch, lobster, etc. Some countries prohibit spearfishing, some limit it to pole spears etc. In the Bahamas, you can get a fishing license along with the Cruising permit. Here in the TCI where we live, you have to buy a fishing license and it has nothing to do with a cruising permit, etc. Like denverdon says, you gotta do your homework first. Google will work.

Re: Silly lurker question

I once posted a question on this forum about foraging in various lands and the thread turned out to be fabulous. Respondents here are your BFF's, newbie. Come back often. Perhaps time for a new category on Living Off the Land?
