Care to do a taste comparison for us and report back?

Absolutely. No problem. Everything tastes like chicken so Jamon will be no problem.
El Corte Inglés which carries Marmite is not open at this hour, and the english restaurant that serves it for breakfast is in another town so my report will be delayed somewhat.
I do sometimes put a dab in the gravies that I make along with H.P. sauce,

OMG! No Marmite on hand?
I see you have an emergency situation. Is it 000 or 911 they use in Spain?

Re: Secret Sailors Food
Ice? with Marmite? Wouldn't that make the toast sort of soggy?
Real sailors eat Vegemite... wards of scurvy and other sailorising ailments... apply liberally...

I quite like the Agua gaseo and red wine for Sunday lunch. very pleasant if the mix is right.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape doesnt taste so good but the hard Spanish reds work well..
