No insurance inspection's in OZ, and yes, it was actually purchased as a water purifier.

Mine sits on a modified 10 gallon keg with a 2Kw element in it. Add on the condensor and it ends up about 7 feet tall. But boy can it purify a lot of water.

If you do rum and cokes, or whiskey and cokes, you can minimize your hangover by using diet soda. The insane amount of sugar you're taking in is a big part of your hangover. It varies person by person, but figure:

40% alcohol withdrawls
40% dehydration
20% sugar screw up

Alcohol causes low blood sugar, which is made worse by taking a bunch of sugar while drinking, which of course causes an insulin spike, which in turn loweres your blood sugar even more.

I like Whaler's Rum. It's not amazing, but it's not bad, and I like the darker and more mild taste than Capt Morgan.

A bottle of rum lasts me, on average, two weeks. I tend to run out of mixers much faster than liquour.

Have to disagree here, As stated earlier, I very rarely get a hangover, or even the hint of one drinking my own spirit's, and I drink with Cola, Water and milk ( in seperate drink's) and most week's drink at least 2 litres of spirit.

If having a big sip, it would not be uncommon to drink 1 litre of spirit(rum) in a sitting. (4 times a year).

I get pissed, but no hangover, bright eyed and bushy tailed the next day, unless I have had a few beer's (commercial brew) or started or finished with commercial spirit or wine.

When I have 3 or 4 drink's of commercial spirit (double R & C in 10 oz), if my own is not available, I will have a hangover.

I do get crook if drinking Coca-cola, but it is more an acid burning from the inside out.

I don't get this from generic Cola.

So Doctor Dave say's home brew spirit's, if made correctly, are good for you.

I also make my own spirits (vodka) as well. I agree with Dave about the no hangover bit, but I put it down to the fact that i filter with activated charcoal, 2 or even 3 times until all the fire (firewater) is removed and it is a very smooth drink. Then I mix with a dash of fruit juice, soda water and ice. You can clarify the charcoal by boiling it in a pressure cooker for about an hour.
I am calling my unit a backup desalinator.

I would like to try some booze that is prepard like you suggest to see my own hangover results. Is there any booze on the market that would be "clean" like your homebrew?

sky vodka.
It was developed by a guy who realised that ordinary spirits contained a high level of contaminants.
He contracted out to have the vodka triple filtered etc.
Vodka is straight ethanol wihout any flavourings, so is the least likely sprit to give you a hangover.

I'll have to also go with the Pusser's Rum Painkiller or about any other mix. But the Pusser's Captain's Blood should never be mixed.. too good to change in anyway... except with a very cold and pure ice cube... never a white one!!

ALSO.... not sure I would ever want to be Bushy tailed... in the AM or PM... just don't think it would feel right??? You would have to be REALLLLY harried to feel that way??
