Re: Quest for the One Can Meal

I haven't been through the entire thread, so this may have already been covered.

Have you done a search for "survivalist food"?

In addition to introducing one to a very interesting sub-culture, there are some palatable looking options in mega bulk quantities. Also, a side benefit, is they come in water/weatherproof plastic containers ready to stow aboard.

Thanks! At your suggestion I purchased a container of vegetable protein powder. I'm amazed! I added it to my breakfast cereal and found that I no longer get hungry by noon as I usually do. Lost 2 pounds already!

Spam sandwich and a glass of V8 juice, all the daily nutrition you need. If you don't have any bread, have a beer and call it grain.

If in civilization make it easier, 3 McDoubles and a glass of V8.

And that V8 tastes great with a shot of tabasco sauce in it in the morning, or a shot of rum of vodka in the afternoon!

Re: Quest for the One Can Meal

Small can of sweet and sour tuna on a bed of rice is a good solid meal when its rough also chocolate canned creamed rice with a can of fruit salad makes a mighty fine pudding.

Now that's one I have to try. Do you pour the boiling water over the peanut butter or add it to the prepared oatmeal?

As a community service here's post #9 again:
Re: Quest for the one can meal
Thanks for your replies and true, a lot of them can be improved by adding onion or other ingredients, but my quest is for a proper One Can Meal - in other words being able to reach for a can, open it, heat it and have a decent meal. ...
