My stove is about 3 years old. I believe the problem is in the contacts in the controls. They are sealed units, and can not be cleaned, so I have to hope they re-establish contact again. Still, the stick lighter works fine.

Actually, the condensation was more from the propane heater we have. It is a portable indoor heater. Great for heat, bad for moisture. When it was cold (30-44f) and we were not on shore power we used the propane heater. Stove was only a minor contributor at that point.

This is probably after the fact, but on Sunspot Baby we have a Seward oven Model 325, and a Seawrd two-burner propane stove top Model 2277. These were installed in 2002, replacing Princess appliances that were barely useable, and they have both been great. I wish the oven were slightly bigger, but rotating things in larger pans half way through baking evens out the heat distribution. We bake bread in loaves, corn bread, pizza, and casseroles with no problem. The two burner stove top is fine, except I wish it were easier to dissassemble for cleaning.

The factory in the Pacific northwest was accommodating with all questions we had before the purchase.

Any type of gas stove/heater will produce some water as a combustion product, which is the reason that traditional bakers will swear they can't use electric ovens. The dough dries out more (all food will) in the electric oven.

Alcohol is the worst that way, generates more moisture than any of the gasses. Spend a night with an alcohol heater in the boat...wake up under water. UGH. I'd rather be cold & dry.<G>

I have a gas stove on my boat, and wish I had gas at home too! Frankly, my stainless steel 3-burner with oven & grill stove on board is better than what I have at home, and then some! I love throwing a leg of lamb and a few spuds into the oven 3 hours out from land (in a big sea, getting thrown around the galley), so that once the anchor is down in some quite bay, just need to uncork a bottle of shiraz and dinner will be ready to serve!

Nothing better than pulling out a fresh batch of brownies when we're rafted up with friends.

If you want to love propane, just force yourself to use a kerosene stove for a while. :shudder:
